China's State Council officially appointed Feng Zhenglin, vice minister of the Ministry of Transport, as executive vice-minister and acting minister of the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), according to a notice released Tuesday on the website of Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security.
Feng's predecessor Li Jiaxiang, who took over the position in 2008, was dismissed from the CAAC chief and vice minister of the Ministry of Transport due to his advanced age.
Feng, 59, was born in China's Shaanxi Province in 1957. He has been vice minister of the Ministry of Transport since June 2003 and deputy secretary of the Leading Party Group of the Ministry of Transport since October 2015.
On December 28, 2015, Feng was named as secretary of the Leading Party Group of the CAAC.
